Become an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America), serve in the Appalachian Coalfields of West Virginia, and leave a positive footprint – all will give you valuable work experience boosting your attractiveness to future employers. The AmeriCorps VISTA program, sometimes described as Domestic Peace Corps, provides members medical insurance, a monthly living allowance of ~$1,200, childcare benefits, and delayed payment of student loans (with relief from paying interest). Additionally, at the end your service, you are eligible for a cash stipend of $1,200 or an education award for ~$6,300. You can make a difference in one of the friendliest but most economically depressed regions in the country. New input from energetic, talented, and passionate young adults can help overcome these daunting obstacles. Will you be part of the solution?
