RAIL hosted a luncheon meeting at the Mullens Opportunity Center on March 24 to bring together sponsors and funders to begin a Junior Achievement program in Wyoming County. JA is a national program that has been in existence for 90 years and has more members than any other such program in the country. JA has a structured program for all grade levels that teach about economics and how businesses are formed.
Junior Achievement depends on volunteers. All JA programs up to the tenth grade are done in a school room setting. Programs in high school are structured so students can plan and start a business to earn themselves a profit. They may do a project in a setting conducive to the product being produced for sale. In addition to high school students the local JA program is available to all that are high school age and attending other curriculum such as GED.
Anyone interested in participating in JA as a sponsor, volunteer, or participant may call Jack Seitz at 304 294 6226 or Linda Stockbauer at 304 294 6188 for more information.
