Many different groups have come to Mullens, West Virginia to work with RAIL in their efforts to dismantle poverty. Some of these groups have been colleges, who brought students with a will to work. They have aided in housing repairs, tree plantings, and other projects RAIL has conducted over the years.
Other groups have been from churches, both local and non, that have come to the MOC and given away food, and clothing to people in need. The groups have also put on musical performances in our gymnasium for people to listen to while they socialize at the event.
To organize a trip to the MOC the group should contact coordinator Jack Seitz at (304)294-6226. After speaking with Jack, the group will chose the time that is most convenient for them to volunteer. After a date is set, the group's coordinator will work closely with organizations from the MOC to decide on a project that is right for them, and possitively impacts the work of RAIL.
Once the time comes for a group to arrive at the MOC, they will be able to stay in the building. There are two rooms on the upper level that are designated "Dorm rooms" seperated by gender. The groups will need to provide their own sleeping bags and pillows, but there are beds and/or cots available.
Here at RAIL, we appreciate all of our volunteers, and hope to continue on with the partnerships made with various groups and organizations. After the group departs, with a new sense of worth and satisfaction from having contributed possitively to Southern West Virginia, they will be listed in our "Groups Hall of Fame"!
